The Journey to OMG!
Born and raised in Oak Park, Illinois, I spent my childhood experiencing the melting pot of food and flavors that Chicago has to offer. I learned the importance of fresh ingredients from my parents, both Chinese immigrants who maintained a seasonal home garden and cooked only the most authentic dishes from Southern China. In college at IIT (Illinois Institute of Technology) I met my husband, Richard Gregg, who introduced me to the richness of Eastern European cuisine. We moved to Elmhurst after our wedding, raised our two children, and shared our mutual love for global cuisine until he passed in 2010.
I have remained a passionate and integrated member of the Elmhurst community. As an active member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter), I find great joy in giving back through a variety of volunteering efforts that support local and worldwide charities. In 1995, working as the Executive Director, I raised the funds to build the Elmhurst Art Museum, an effort which fulfilled my lifetime love of the arts. I continue to support my hometown and have loved watching it grow and thrive over the years.
In 2011, I envisioned opening a restaurant that would encompass my passion for people, philanthropy, food, and the arts; it would serve my community by providing a welcoming environment to all ages and backgrounds while offering healthy, delicious meals made from local, natural, and organic ingredients. I would soon call this concept OMG! Brunch & Boutique, and the rest is history.
